We’ve been awarded a University of Windsor Undergraduate Research Experience (URE) grant, enabling us to further our carrying-out and dissemination of undergraduate-driven research. Jointly adjudicated by the Office of Research and Innovation Services and the Centre for Teaching and Learning, this $2,000 grant will help to defray expenses related to supplies (e.g. labware), knowledge mobilization (e.g. student poster printing), and student travel (e.g. to conferences).
The undergraduate-driven research project supported by this URE grant is: Development of a gut-friendly probiotic towards the treatment of insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome. The project explores human-compatible Lactobacillus strains fermented in optimized media and used in the biotransformation and enrichment of insulin-sensitizing natural products.
